April Review: Instagram Style

We are already a week in to May (though I am sure YOU realize that, it’s becoming harder for me to grasp how quickly the time flies!)

I get that we probably are “boring” to most people.  My instagram feed is filled with our daily life, not the latest purchased items.  We don’t really do big lavish trips- we just enjoy sunny days at the park, our night time cuddle routines, and watching the boys learn new things.

A few of my favorite moments from April..

1. Eli is currently obsessed with his “Go, Dog. Go!” stuffed dog (that was his daddys!! So sweet!) and a bear that we stuffed at the mall together.

2. David & Eli used to lay together and David would throw the ball up. Eli would lay there content as can be watching the ball go up and down.. makes me smile to see David doing that with Luke now.

3. We bravely conquered the zoo together.. just me + the boys (and thankfully my friend Tisha!) It was quite an adventure that included me losing my phone on the safari train, and an incredibly rude train ‘conductor.’  When David asked how our trip went, I simply replied that we were all still living. Sometimes, that’s the most important thing:)

  4. The boys are 3 months & 20 months.. and growing too fast.

5. Eli’s love for his brother grows every day.. making my mama heart on the brink of bursting!

6. Night-time routine..watching our iphone videos ♥

7. Eli is Mr. Independent and will not let you help him down the stairs any more.  Thankfully he has not fallen yet- he’s really good about holding on.

8- I don’t nap with Luke like I did with Eli.  My goal this week is to take ONE nap with him.  I used to nap with Eli every day and loved that cuddle time… now naptime is letsseehowfasticangeteverythingdone time.. but life is sweetest when it’s enjoyed to the fullest.. and right now, that means one nap with Luke!

9. This was my favorite moment of this month.  The picture isn’t going to mean too much to anyone, but on this particular night David was giving Eli a bath and Eli was talkative as usual and I was singing & rocking Luke.  He is more or less out of the ‘grumpy baby’ faces and is so expressive with his bright eyed smile.  I’m sure not many would think this was a spectacular night, but in that moment, everything was perfect. We were all safe, fed, and warm..and baby laughs filled the air.

Jenny { Richmond Virginia Maternity Photographer

A gorgeous family + the perfect baby bump make up this beautiful studio maternity session. Jenny wanted to document these last few days as a family of three, before welcoming her second daughter into the mix.  I remember those bittersweet feelings she’s experiencing. (I even blogged about it here!)  So obviously overjoyed at the new addition, but sad to be losing the one-on-one time with her daughter. They’ve been the best of friends all this time, and both of their worlds are about to change, but I know big sis will be perfect!

3 & 20 mo { Personal

I am a mother of two.  Did that sound crazy to you? It did to me.  While I can NOT imagine life any other way, I really do feel like I shouldn’t be this far out of college, old enough to have a house, a husband, and TWO BABIES!!  Eli (20 months) still loves his role as a big brother.  Whenever he wakes up he wants to go see where his brother is.  And now that Luke can hold toys in his hands, Eli is constantly trying to hand him things. (Even his banana which was quite entertaining)

Big things for Luke at 3 months include learning that laying by yourself for 2 seconds isn’t the end of the world. (Thank you Jesus!) He also is rolling both ways without his arm getting stuck when he goes from back to belly.

Eli is obsessed with the book “Go, Dog. Go!” and we ready it about 2934897x per day.  He laughs every time we get to the “do you like my hat?” pages because I change my voice up.  These really are such fun times with him. He can now unlock the deadbolt on doors (which this is my reminder to get chains for the top!) and is such a big help with laundry, dishes, and much to his father’s dismay, my makeup;) We are already planning his 2nd (cue tears!!) birthday, and if you follow me on pinterest I apologize for bombarding you with inspiration;)

To show their age this month I wanted to recreate my favorite picture of them, and will do it again at 6 months, 9 months & 1 year (If they let me, I can only imagine how difficult it will get!)

..to show that they’re not always perfectly posed…
“Eli are you listening with your big boy ears?”

Samantha { Prince George High School Senior

Your senior portraits are a time to be all about YOU! We chat about what you like and I hear about your ideal session, and we pick a location to go along with it.  Samantha loves ballet and wanted a city look to her session.. Richmond is PERFECT for that!  I love seeing what seniors wear- they are so much more fashionable that I am (or ever was!) and Samantha picked out some great outfits.. perfectly complimenting her style and the shooting location!

Erin & Brian { Richmond Virginia Engagement Photographer

These two. They are apparently are “feng shui!!!!” according to a bystander– I’m not really sure what that means as far as an engagement session goes, but we will go with the perfect amount of giggly & romantic..;)  We had their session at Maymont, which is such a gorgeous location in the Richmond area, and it was also the place where they had their first “day date” .. I hope one day we come back for maternity portraits:)But I’m getting way ahead of myself because first up we have their wedding taking place this September!
