Preparing for your newborn session
The best prep starts at home..
Before you come, please give baby a wake period — a bath or laying in diaper helps baby from getting in a deep sleep until it’s time. Please also give the baby a full belly before you come, the car ride will help rock baby to sleep and I can usually get right to posing upon arrival. We keep the studio decently warm (around 76-80) so wear layers if you get hot easily! A warm, well fed baby is a happy snuggly poser!
Speaking of arrival..
Please arrive on time. I know that is SO hard with a newborn, that is why I plan for mid-morning start times. My studio days are typically structured back to back so that I can make the most of my time out of the home. I completely understand things come up please keep me updated on your arrival by texting me at 434-382-9475.
Do i need to bring anything?
If you’d like to incorporate something special from home, I love that! Just shoot me a text or email a few days before the session so I know how to incorporate it into posing. I have tons of different colors for wraps and props and i’ll ask you about that ahead of the session to make sure the session fits your ideas and decor!
are parents/siblings included?
I would dream of nothing else! Sometimes parents just want to have the baby photographed, but those special first moments are so quickly passing, plan to be in a few!
What about our fur baby?
While I am completely open to any member of the family, sometimes the newborn session is best without the fur baby— i’d suggest maybe saving that for the 6+ month session! But, as long as your pup is well behaved I am up for anything, just know it may take away from a few extra newborn poses/photos while we work to get a great shot with your pet!
Ok! We are in the pictures.. BUT what do we wear?
The studio has a lot of white/neutral to go with anything, but I find white/neutrals photograph newborns so intimately and look great with all decor at your home so I suggest keeping it simple with no busy patterns, focus more on textures!

We moved at the end of Dec 23’ into a beautiful almost 3000 sq ft space full of spots to create beautiful portraits. Please note there ARE steps. I am in the process of reworking that, if that is an issue I am happy to do an in-home newborn session for you.
